Cats are impossible to photograph!
And in steps me, with my one super power, photographing cats! I'll never say it's easy, but I will say as a pet photographer, it's my favorite challenge.
I have shared my world with cats my entire life. I am proud to say I am 100% "crazy cat lady". I can sit and just watch them for hours, trying to figure out what's going on in their head. Sadly, I don't think we'll ever know for sure what they are thinking, but one thing I do know, is that they expect to and deserve to be worshipped.

How I decided to photograph cats
Technically, I'm a pet photographer, I enjoy photographing all the pets. But, I soon realized there is a need for someone who can photograph cats specifically. There are lots of amazing dog photographers out there, but there seems to be lack of cat photographers. So I set out to take as many cat photos as I could, starting with my own 3. Everyone, meet Dolly Purrton, Noah and Jack Jack, my favorite models!
How I work my magic
Time and Patience! Those are two single most important things when taking cat photos. When I show up at a clients home for a cat session, the first step before the camera ever comes out of the bag, is to just sit there and let the cat get to know me. I learn how close I can get, how comfortable the cat will be with me and with the camera. Now, let's be honest, cats will be cats lol. So I may not always be able to get the exact shots I would like. I may have to throw on a long lens and keep my distance. I may have to just follow the cat around and let them do their thing and snap more "candid" shots. Lots of treats and toys sometimes do the trick and I'm able to get some more "posed" style shots. The key for me is to capture the cats eyes. Through the eyes, we get a peek into their soul and thats where the magic happens!

Some are more of a challenge
Well, I hate to admit it, but there are some cats out there that just won't succumb to my super powers! After doing my best to get a very shy cat to warm up to me, sometimes it's just not going to happen. That's when we go to plan B. Yup, that's right cat parents, it's time for you to get in the shot! These cat and human shots can be so heartwarming and are some of my favorites to capture. The bond between cats and their people is so strong.
